Marcin Gortat recently lamented the disappearance of shattering backboards. After a huge dunk at Smith Center during Wednesday night’s GW-Duquesne game, it’s probably a good thing they don’t exist.
The slam, delivered by Duquesne senior forward Ovie Soko, caused some in the arena to question the integrity of the rim. Officials halted the game in the second half and brought in the necessary tools to ensure that the basket was, in fact, level.
The break in action wasn’t enough to give Duquesne time to catch their breath. GW walked away with the 71-57 win.

I’ve seen a lot of basketball games in my life. Never seen a level placed on a rim to prove that it’s straight. #UntilTonight
