When asked about Michael Sam coming out this week, Doug Williams, the Redskins new personnel executive, was supportive of gay players in the NFL. From Insider:

“I think eventually, we have to get to that point when we talk about people’s sexuality and get to that point where you say, ‘Hey, that’s their preference, but if he’s a good football player, and if he can help us win, he can be on my team.’ ”

Brian Mitchell caught up with Pierre Garcon at a charity event, and asked him how he felt an openly gay player would fare in the locker room. Garcon doesn’t seem to think the scrutiny would be much worse than that of any other player.

“I don’t have a problem with anyone or what they wanna do,” said Garcon. “But he’s gotta deal with it every day, especially playing in the NFL. He’ll have questions from guys like you guys, but he’ll just have to deal with it. It’s part of being in the NFL where your life is an open book.”
