Katie Carrera has some pretty downer quotes from Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin on their Olympic disappointments. As people have pointed out, Ovechkin seems ready to move on while Backstrom is still struggling with his positive test for a banned substance. There are sad pixels here, here and here.
While vowing to get through his Sochi memories, Ovechkin offered this sentiment to fans.
“To be honest with you, I feel sorry about the game and, you know, first of all for my country people because everybody was excited and everybody can’t wait for when the Games start and the fans were supporting us,” a somber Ovechkin said. “We lost, and first of all I want to say sorry to the fans because it’s once in life opportunity to represent your country in Olympics and you didn’t get the results. You didn’t get a medal. And of course the fans, the media and the people who support Russia family was upset, but life goes on and right now we here and we gonna do our best to take a playoff spot and try to win the Cup.”
Sad pixels make the worst Olympics souvenirs.
