Nats’ Ian Desmond, Gio Gonzalez, Anthony Rendon tested on baseball lingo

Lindsay Murphy of Fox 5 decided to use some spring training access to test a few Nats players on their knowledge of baseball lingo. Ian Desmond, Gio Gonzalez and Anthony Rendon were tapped to play, and a few of the slang terms posed a problem for the guys.

Desmond put on his game face and took home the lingo crown. It’s not surprising that 23-year-old Rendon got the fewest answers right. When was the last time you heard “can of corn” used in everyday baseball talk?

It’s a rare conundrum for the D.C. sports fan. It’s going to be a long day for the folks at your local Papa Johns.



The Nats sent along a note telling us that Tyler Clippard is currently leading the bobblehead votes with more than half of the total votes registered. Adam LaRoche is running a distant second. It must be the goggles. Voting ends today, details on how to vote here.
