Ryan Zimmerman on fatherhood

(Jonathan Newton / The Washington Post)

First base isn’t the only new job Ryan Zimmerman is learning. After welcoming a daughter with wife Heather in the fall, he also has some daddy skills to lock down.

“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” he told WJLA’s Britt McHenry, before telling the tale of some stressful father-daughter time. “I was home one time and she started crying and  you change the diaper and she’s fed and there’s only so many things that you can do. So I’m texting [Heather], ‘Are you almost done?’ and then ‘hurry,’ and then it’s all caps and then it’s like exclamation marks.”

I’m sure Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann, who also welcomed additions in the offseason, have similar tales.

As for the littlest Zim, it seems like she already has her identity laid out for her.
