Ovechkin picks Virginia to win NCAA tournament

Two years ago, Alex Ovechkin set the sports world aflame with a performance art NCAA tournament bracket filled with abstract circles, maze-like lines, outrageous picks and fantastic abbreviations. It was one of the best celebrity brackets of all time, even if he only had two of the elite eight teams correct.

Well, Ovechkin is back for more, and this time with a pronounced local flavor. The Caps winger has predicted Virginia to win the 2014 NCAA tournament.

“Done !!!” he wrote on Instagram. “good luck VA!!!!”

Still, someone has evidently told Ovechkin that picking every doggone underdog is not a path to bracket success. His upsets are few and far between; the most notable involves UCLA beating Florida and then Syracuse to advance to a Final Four showdown with Virginia.
