On Tuesday’s Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon did a ‘Pros and Cons’ segment about the NCAA tournament. Somewhat predictably, Fallon used the opportunity to play off the name Virginia coach Tony Bennett shares with a famous singer (and a stripper).

Even more predictably, he made fun of Duke:

Most of Fallon’s jokes read like the pithy commentary that accompanied the Bog’s gone-but-not-forgotten Atlantic 11 Poll, which was discontinued in 2012. It’s just Virginia’s luck that the Cavaliers’ finest season in decades didn’t include an Atlantic 11 title as the best Division I men’s basketball team from D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

For years, Virginia was an easy target for Atlantic 11 voters, never more so than in 2009, when Virginia was relegated to the ‘Also Receiving Votes’ category. Indeed, much of the UVA pith from the final weeks of the 2011 season could have come from any year of the poll’s existence:

At least it’s [insert non-revenue sport here] season. (Jake Leffler)

Not a lot of suspense in Charlottesville surrounding the announcement of the All-ACC team. (John Albers)

Like most mid-majors, UVA will need to win their conference tournament to get to the Big Dance. (Markus Videnieks)

Assistant coaches assigned to find out whether or not the CBI has play-in games this year. (Mike Steele)

Those days are apparently over, with Bennett and Virginia carrying the torch for the Atlantic 11 into Friday’s Sweet 16 matchup with Michigan State. How about some poll-style pith to set the tone?

Mr. Jefferson’s University was looking forward to a Round of 32 showdown with George Washington to right the wrongs of Presidents Races past, but had to settle for shellacking Memphis.

Teven Jones is already a better dancer than Mateen Cleeves ever was a towel-waiver.

H to the Izzo, V to the Izzay. Forget the Spartans, the Hoos are bound for the Elite Eight.

Woof. I’m showing two years’ worth of rust, so please, drop your own pith in the comments. No need to limit it to pro-UVA silliness, but Maryland fans, you have your work cut out for you.
