On Saturday, the Wizards signed 10-year-old Amaris Jackson to a one-day contract in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic Foundation. Jackson, a Takoma Elementary student who is battling a rare kidney cancer known as renal cell carcinoma, visited the locker room, led the Wizards onto the court, participated in the pregame shoot-around while wearing a custom No. 10 jersey and was introduced as part of the Wizards’ starting lineup.

“It was fun . . . exciting, meeting all the players,” Jackson told Brandon Parker. “It was awesome.”

It sure looked like it.
