Nats on Bryce Harper: ‘Nothing but Hustle’

“We made an agreement,” Matt Williams said on Saturday, after pulling Bryce Harper for not running out a groundball. “He and I made an agreement. This team made an agreement that when we play the game, that we hustle at all times.”

It’s fair to say that, whatever Williams’s deeper motivations this weekend, he benched Harper for a lack of hustle.

Which turned out to be somewhat ironic. Since this weekend’s game program featured the above headline.

And since the Nats’ interactive fan wall near the Center Field Gate features this graphic.

And since an ad that has been running during MASN television broadcasts — including during Sunday’s matinee — features this slogan.

That’s a lot of hustle promotion.
