There aren’t many NFC East players more disliked in Washington than LeSean McCoy.

First of all, he’s good at football. But more than that, he snatched a Redskins banner from the Lincoln Financial Field wall last season and tossed it onto the ground.

“It was shocking,” the fan who brought the banner, Alex Sofillas, told Sarah Kogod at the time. “I was like, ‘What just happened?’ He was like, ‘Get this outta here, man.’ He was very strong. His grasp on the flag and his pull was so strong. It was very shocking.”

So bear that in mind when reading about what McCoy said on ESPN Radio last week when asked about his former teammate DeSean Jackson.

“The thing with DeSean, I think no matter what team he plays for — if it’s Eagle Green or it’s that terrible ugly red and yellow — he’s gonna do well,” McCoy said. “He’s a special talent, and he’s a heck of a player. So he’ll have success wherever he goes, and I think as an offense we’ll be good.

“Now sure, there’s different things that he does well that makes this offense even more special,” McCoy went on. “But I think bringing [in] a guy like [Darren] Sproles, and other guys can step up. You know, [Riley] Cooper last year played so well. And then you take a guy like [Jeremy] Maclin, coming off the injury and what he’s done before that. And we’ll have weapons. We’ll have weapons.

“Sure, no doubt, DeSean’s a big playmaker, makes tons of plays, and he is one of the best wide receivers in the league,” McCoy said. “But it’s a business at the end of the day. Donovan McNabb was a great player and he had to leave. And I can go down the list of teams and players that moved on to different teams. We’ve just got to move on. I think it’s in the past. I still talk to DeSean and we’re still friends, but it’s a business. I play for the Eagles, he plays for the Redskins, and the third week of the season we’ll be getting it on.”

Honestly, you don’t care about his thoughts on Jeremy Maclin, and I don’t either. I’m not even convinced you’re still reading this. You just want more Redskins insults. Here, in case you’ve forgotten:

“The thing with DeSean, I think no matter what team he plays for — if it’s Eagle Green or it’s that terrible ugly red and yellow — he’s gonna do well.”

Is Eagle Green a real color? Has McCoy been talking to Jim Zorn? Is he mad? Oh, and was he surprised about Jackson’s departure?

“I mean, he was by far one of our better players, so I was definitely surprised,” McCoy said. “But as a player, there’s things that happen that we have no control over. I’m sure years ago when Peyton Manning got released form the Colts, I’m sure everybody was so surprised. So it’s one of those things where you’re definitely surprised, but you move on. We’re fine, and everything is back to normal now. We had workouts here this past week, and it was different, but it is what it is. You kind of get over that, and you play through it.”

Whatever. “Terrible ugly red and yellow” will never be forgotten.
