Gilbert Arenas kicks Pacers’ Roy Hibbert while he’s down

(Toni L. Sandys/The Washington Post)

Pacers center and former Georgetown star Roy Hibbert continued his disappearing act in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Wizards. The 7-foot-2 Hibbert finished without a point or rebound in 18 minutes in Washington’s 102-96 win on Monday night. If you handed him a Gatorade these days, he probably couldn’t chug it in less than six seconds.

I’d be perfectly happy if Hibbert had an unproductive series, but it’s hard for me to find much joy in his struggles. Tracy McGrady and Gilbert Arenas have no such problem.

Arenas, who repeatedly referred to the Wizards and “we” and “us” during a recent interview on 106.7 The Fan, recycled a bunch of old memes to troll Hibbert during Monday night’s game.

The really sad part is that Arenas had his own struggles on May 5 eight years ago, missing two free throws in overtime of the Wizards’ Game 6 loss to the Cavaliers.
