RGIII: Redskins are ‘trying to go get that fourth Super Bowl’

(Via Redskins.com)

If you didn’t choose to go to FedEx Field on Saturday to celebrate the newest Redskins draft picks, you missed a Q&A session featuring Larry Michael and Robert Griffin III and happiness. And if you missed that Q&A session, you missed a series of quotes showing gratitude and thanks and appreciation, while hinting about future success.

This is something of a local tradition. At the 2010 draft day party, DeAngelo Hall said he felt good about 11 or 12 wins the following season. That didn’t work out, exactly. But that draft day party is still a great venue for enthusiastically optimistic quotes. Here are Griffin’s best from Saturday, ranked by enthusiastic optimism.

(Watch the video clips here and here.)

“We’re gonna bring that excitement back. We promise you we’ll match your enthusiasm. We’re gonna match your dedication. And we’re gonna win.”

“Man you [fans] are dedicated to us. You guys expect greatness out of us and we expect greatness out of ourselves, so we’re gonna give that to you guys.”

“The town is awesome. You guys have accepted me and my family. I consider all you guys family as well, and I thank you guys for being there for us.”

“I put together a video and I think the Redskins are gonna post that this upcoming week. I hope you guys can all tune in and watch that video. It’s truly a blessing to you guys, what you’ve done for us. Even after last season, all the turmoil and everything, you guys are still here. And we promise we’ll be there for you.”

“We thank you guys for coming out. Continue to be excited. We need you guys on this journey. We’re trying to go get that fourth Super Bowl, all right? That’s it. We love you.”

“We like the fact that we’re gonna solidify that [offensive] line. And if it’s just adding depth, that’s good as well. They’ll be a great addition to that room. The guys that we have up front will embrace those guys, bring them in and help them come along.”

“Let Jay [Gruden] be Jay, just like he’s gonna let us be the players that we are. That’s the biggest thing. He brings a great energy to the field. The staff that he put together has been great. So we’ve only been on the field for three practices and we’re looking forward to more of them.”

“They’ve gone out and they’ve made our team better, not only in free agency but with the draft picks that we’ve gotten so far. We’re a better team today.”

“We’re not 3-13 anymore. We’re 0-0. And I think we cherish that. We look forward to the opportunity to go out and play and let our play do the talking. So you can learn from last year. And we’ve talked about it enough. We’ve all learned and we’re moving on.”

“DeSean’s a guy with speed, but I don’t think people really understand how good his hands are. He’s got a good catch radius. He can catch it almost anywhere. His thing is just be dynamic. That’s what he has to be, and he will be that for us….He’s invested. He’s a guy that has to feel wanted, and I think the whole D.C. community has made him wanted, and he’s excited to be here. and that’s all you can ask for. A dynamic player like him, excited to be where he’s at — he will produce.”

“We’re trying to bring the city together, and I know [media members] are a big part of that as well. So there is no tough love, no hard feelings towards anything. We’re all trying to do the same thing, and that’s bring the city together, and have people actually feel good on Mondays.”
