Jose Canseco predicts Nationals’ Zach Walters will be the next MVP

(Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports)

According to Jose Canseco, we’ve been comparing the wrong young Nationals player to Mike Trout all along.

Sorry, Bryce Harper. It’s not you, Anthony Rendon. In a series of tweets, Canseco sang the praises of 24-year-old Zach Walters after the reserve infielder went 1 for 4 with three strikeouts in Friday’s 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh. It was Walters’s second start of the season.

How does one explain Canseco’s love for Walters? Is it the fact that three of his six hits this season have been home runs? Is the former slugger a “Frozen” fan? And when will Matt Williams give Walters the regular at-bats he needs to realize his 40-40 potential? So many questions.

Anyway, keep an eye on Zach Walters.
