Marcin Gortat says it would be awesome if Wizards brought back Caron Butler

After agreeing to terms with Coach Randy Wittman on a contract extension, the Wizards have some important decisions to make about pending free agents this summer.

While his own future in Washington remains to be determined, Marcin Gortat expressed his desire for Ernie Grunfeld to bring a familiar face back to D.C.

It all started with a tweet from The Post’s Michael Lee about Caron Butler.

The 34-year-old Butler, who was traded to Dallas in 2010 after four-plus years in Washington and completed this season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, will be a free agent for the third time in his career.

“I don’t know,” Butler said when asked about his future after the Spurs eliminated the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. “I have to sit back and think about some things. It’s going to be a minute before I get over this one, though.”

The former member of the Wizards’ “Big Three,” also known as “Tuff Juice,” was sidelined with a knee injury when he won a championship with Dallas in 2011. He has said he’d like to play a more prominent role in winning a title.
