The Jayson Werth BobbleBeards were gone in 13 minutes

Potomac Nationals assistant general manager Zach Prehn had an idea the turnout would be good for Saturday’s game at Pfitzner Stadium after news of the Jayson Werth BobbleBeard giveaway spread last week. He did not, however, anticipate that some fans would arrive a full three hours before the gates opened.

“We had people waiting in line at 2 o’clock,”  Prehn told me. “They were there in full force and the giveaway lasted a grand total of 13 minutes.”

The announced attendance for Saturday’s game was 7,791, but only the first 1,000 fans received BobbleBeards.

“The majority of fans understood that it was a popular promotion,” Prehn said. “I probably only had three or four unhappy people come to me.”

If you missed out on the Werth BobbleBeard, there are a few available on eBay, including one listed for $145 or best offer. And you might want to start lining up now for the Jayson Werth Wolf-a-Rine figure, which will be given out on August 16.
