Aberdeen IronBirds unveil ‘Ripken orange’ outfield wall

I always figured my first Bog item about the Aberdeen IronBirds would come after trying the all-you-can-eat crab feast offered throughout the summer at Ripken Stadium. That was before the Orioles’ short-season Single-A affiliate announced that its infield dirt features Old Bay outfield wall is now orange.

The IronBirds play in the New York-Penn League and are owned by Cal Ripken Jr.  The team changed its colors to orange and black during the offseason and installed ‘Ripken orange’ padding to the outfield wall in time for tonight’s home opener against Brooklyn.

Via Ripken Baseball’s VP of Brand Marketing Colin Clark:

“We designed the new outfield wall to enhance the fan experience and to create a distinct home field advantage for the new-look IronBirds. Paired with the team’s new Under Armour uniforms, the fresh atmosphere at Ripken Stadium further establishes Aberdeen as the place where Birdland begins and innovation lives.”
