The Nationals own the Mets at Citi Field

With their 4-1 win at Citi Field on Thursday, the Nationals increased their National League East lead over the Braves to a season-high six games and established a new franchise record for consecutive road wins (11) against one team. It’s also the Mets’ longest-ever home losing streak against one team.

Washington, which has swept a pair of three-game series in Flushing this season, broke Atlanta’s previous record of 10 consecutive road wins against the Mets, which spanned the 1991 and 1992 seasons. The Nationals are now an astounding 25-4 in their past 29 road games against the Mets and can extend their streak when they return to Citi Field in September for a four-game series.

The chances of the Nationals playing below .500 the rest of the way seem low considering they get to face the Mets another seven times. They have won 11 straight at Citi Field, and they’re 10-2 against them this season. The Nationals have played 11 percent of their games vs. the Mets and hit 18 percent of their homers — 19 of 104 — against them.

Numbers from the Nationals’ 11-Game Winning Streak at Citi Field

Nationals   Mets
6.7 Runs/Game 1.9
29 Home Runs 5

That’s what domination looks like. The Nationals have homered in every game during the streak.

Now, if only the Mets could catch fire over the rest of the season…
