There’s an ad for Nats Park in the latest Philadelphia Magazine

Here’s some sad news: It appears almost certain that the Phillies will finish behind the Nats in attendance for the first time since 2005. This is particularly jarring to me, as I was assured repeatedly by all manner of Philadelphia fans that the true believers to the north were immune from bandwagonism and would fill Philadelphia’s stands perpetually into the glorious phuture.

Anyhow, in an apparent drive to offer baseballing alternatives to disaffected Philadelphians, Destination DC took out an advertisement in the latest issue of Philadelphia Magazine. It was an ad for a Washington vacation, but really, it was an ad for Nationals Park.

Of course, one could also argue that this was not Phillies trolling, but was rather a call-back to the bad old days when Stan Kasten beseeched Philadelphians to fill Washington’s ballpark. So is Washington rubbing a first-place club in Philadelphia’s last-place phace, or lowering itself by making an out-of-town appeal, or just taking out a meaningless magazine ad?
