Redskins players passionately defend Brandon Meriweather on Twitter

Monday night’s news that Brandon Meriweather would be suspended two games by the NFL for his hit on Torrey Smith brought the usual outrage from home fans. The outrage from home players, though, seemed a bit more passionate than is usual.

DeAngelo Hall and Nick Sundberg led the charge, Hall by suggesting that NFL decision-makers are somewhat less than qualified to mete out punishment, and Sundberg by bringing up the Ray Rice (and, perhaps, Ray Lewis) situations.

Meanwhile, John Harbaugh is somewhere encouraging local fans to adopt the Ravens as their AFC team.

(Torrey Smith, as noted, wrote that he wouldn’t have suspended Meriweather.)
