The idea of a Prince George’s County-themed Kevin Durant sneaker was very exciting to Wizards fans bleeding #KD2DC, and to fans of the Maryland road system, and to my cubicle neighbor, who lives in Prince George’s County. If you missed it, here’s the gist, via Sneaker News:

The Nike KD line will once again be honing in on Durant’s upbringing with this upcoming KD 7 “PG County” pair. There aren’t any full images of the shoe out there just yet, but this up close shot displays a map that’s embossed onto the upper’s Posite section, complete with callouts to arteries like Walker Mill Road and Denise Drive. They’ve also got a red, white, and blue colorway to them that definitely fits in with the Washington DC vibe. See some more below and watch for the release date on the Nike KD 7 “PG County” soon.

Look, I don’t wear basketball sneakers to the office, but I would have made an exception for a shoe paying tribute to the intersection of Walker Mill Road and Addison Road, which is extremely close to the ideal route for accessing FedEx Field from Washington, via Central Avenue.

Sadly, ’twas but a dream. The amazing shoes pictured here were “given to the athlete as a player exclusive and will not be available at retail,” a Nike spokeswoman explained.

So maybe just do some amateur cartography on your own KD7s, I guess.
