With the 1-8 Buccaneers in town to face the 3-6 Redskins in November, it’s no surprise that the FedEx Field crowd for Sunday’s game resembles the Maryland student section at Byrd Stadium after halftime of Saturday’s loss to Michigan State.

Based on the photos before kickoff, the attendance didn’t look much better than it was at last year’s Chiefs game, which featured the lowest announced crowd for a regular season game in FedEx Field history.

As it turns out, many fans were stuck in long security lines, which were worse than usual with military personnel in attendance for the Redskins’ annual “Salute to Service.”

The crowd filled out a bit during the first quarter, but there were still a lot of empty seats.

Redskins fans who did attend were treated to a mostly terrible first half.

Mediocre might be a bit harsh. The Bucs, who lead 13-7 at the half, have looked pretty good.
