Nationals unveil new train-themed scoreboard on club level

The Stars & Stripes Club at Nationals Park was rebranded the Norfolk Southern Club last season. This year, the club, which stretches from first base to third base on the second level, will feature a new animated scoreboard and a moving model train in keeping with its railroad theme.

The Norfolk Southern-branded scoreboard will track the game in real-time, with balls, strikes and outs denoted by train cars that move along a track. Baserunners are denoted by lights that pop out of bases. The Nationals gave select fans a sneak preview of the scoreboard at an invite-only event on Tuesday. Here’s what a Nationals grand slam on a 3-1 pitch with one out would look like:

Foamers will also enjoy the model train that will run on an overhead track.

It’s probably only a matter of time before the Braves borrow the scoreboard idea for their new stadium.
