Nationals fans will have a new beer option to pair with their Virginia biscuit sandwiches, Chesapeake crab cakes and Ben’s Chili Bowl half-smokes this season.

The team partnered with Sam Adams to brew a Nats Anniversary IPA that will be available on draft exclusively at Nationals Park, beginning with Saturday’s exhibition game against the Yankees.

“We partnered with Sam Adams to create this 10th Anniversary IPA because they are a high quality brewer that has the ability to brew the quantity of the product needed at the ballpark,” Executive Director of Ballpark Operations and Guest Experience Jonathan Stahl said.

Stahl said the Anniversary IPA will be available in the Red Porch restaurant and at a couple of different stands on every level throughout the ballpark, including the Sam Adams Brewhouse behind Section 111.

“It’s not an extremely hoppy IPA,” Stahl said. “We wanted something that would appeal to a large crowd.”

Last year, the Nationals partnered with D.C.-based Atlas Brew Works to create the 1500 South Cap Lager, which was available only at Nationals Park. The 1500 will return this season, as will the District Drafts stands, which feature a rotating selection of four different local craft brews throughout the season.

In other drinking-related news from Wednesday’s tour of the new concessions at Nationals Park, there is a new bar on the main concourse behind Section 132. The Captain’s Cove will offer a variety of Diageo brand liquors, specialty cocktails and beer.
