The most memorable moment of Washington’s wild 103-101 win over the Hawks in Game 3 Saturday night was, of course, Paul Pierce banking in the game-winning jumper with no time on the clock.

But the second-most memorable moment came just a few seconds later, when Pierce was chatting with ESPN’s Chris Broussard.

“Did you call bank?” Broussard asked.

“I called game!” Pierce replied.

And with that, a new slogan was born. That’s going up there with the Clown Question and the Russian Machine and the Fat Lady on the list of succinct D.C. sports quotes that will live on for decades.

Almost immediately, a company was selling “I called game” t-shirts.

Other athletes and sports figures were tweeting the slogan.

And, most importantly, Pierce was posting the slogan on his Instagram page. Not long after the game, he posted this image on his account. His caption? “That’s why I’m here.”
