In the past, we’ve seen most promotions involving food centered around the end of a game rather than something so early on. Hence the Fowl Shot craze, the We Want Wings! chant and the Nationals handing out free nuggets last season if the team scored six or more runs at home.
If this deal had applied last year, we would have had quite a few breakfast sandwiches. In 82 regular season games last season, the Wizards led after one quarter 45 times last season and the Capitals did it 30 times. It should be noted, though, if both teams accomplish the feat, you’re only allowed one English muffin delectable.
“We are proud to partner with both the Wizards and the Capitals and look forward to the many exciting opportunities that will be available for our customers and sports fans,” said Bryan Cleghorn, local McDonald’s owner/operator and president of the McDonald’s Family Restaurants of Greater Washington, D.C. Co-Op, in a release. “McDonald’s is committed to serving great-tasting, quality food and supporting its community and this new partnership is a great way to celebrate both local sports and McDonald’s fans.”
You’ve got to be 13 to participate in the promotion, but the list of places available is quite long, extending beyond the D.C. metropolitan area. According to McDonald’s, in addition to all of D.C., here’s a list of each county the promotion is valid in:
-Maryland: Alleghany, Calvert, Carroll, Charles, Cumberland, Frederick, Garrett, Montgomery, Prince George’s, St. Mary’s and Washington.
-Virginia: City of Alexandria, Arlington, Clarke, Culpeper, City of Fairfax, Fairfax, City of Falls Church, Fauquier, City of Fredericksburg, Frederick, King George, Loudoun, City of Manassas, City of Manassas Park, Page, Prince William, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Warren, Westmoreland and City of Winchester.
