As was expected based on reports from earlier in the week, the Redskins’ top three free agents signed with other teams when the NFL’s free agent signing period opened Thursday afternoon.

Pierre Garcon, who signed with the Redskins as a free agent five years ago, is bound for San Francisco. Fellow receiver DeSean Jackson and defensive lineman Chris Baker are both headed south to Tampa Bay. All three players thanked Redskins fans and said goodbye — at least for now — on Instagram.

“You fans are truly amazing and passionate,” Garcon wrote. “Everyday for the past 5 years I heard ‘I’m a DIE HARD Redskins fan’ I love that and that drove me to keep going hard. Keep it up fans us players love it. I will miss you guys and I’ll always be back. Like I’ve said before D.C. is home for me. ALWAYS.”

Garcon, a fan favorite who expressed his desire to “be in D.C. forever” toward the end of the season and has a pizza business here, led the Redskins with 79 catches for 1,041 yards last season. In his Instagram post, he also referenced the charity “White Party” he hosted to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington over the last four years: #DoMeAFavorKeepTheWhitePartyGoingForTheBoysAndGirlsClub.

Jackson, who also went over 1,000 yards receiving in 2016, sent out “Much Love & appreciation 2 The Washington Redskins for giving me a opportunity to Live out my Dream for The years we Shared!!”

Baker, the man behind multiple #PotRoast2DC campaigns to bring his childhood friend Terrance “Pot Roast” Knighton to Washington, appropriately announced his move with a hashtag: #SwaggyToTampa.

“It was a pleasure to play for the Washington Redskins for the past 6 seasons,” Baker also wrote. “Thank you to the organization for giving me a chance, to the fans and the community for the support. Washington will always hold a special place in my heart.”
