Members of the Maryland basketball team really lucked out with the Terps’ draw for the NCAA tournament. Forget the opponents that stand between Coach Mark Turgeon’s squad and a potential trip to the Sweet 16, starting with Thursday’s first-round game against No. 11 seed Xavier. No. 6 seed Maryland, which was spared trips to cities such as Buffalo, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Tulsa and instead sent to sunny Orlando during a brutally cold week back home, is already a winner.
A few Terps took advantage of their good fortune and a little downtime on Tuesday by hitting the driving range. The results were … comical.
Jaylen Brantley did his best Happy Gilmore impression, Damonte Dodd used his driver like a broom and Jared Nickens, who had the best form of the bunch, provided the laugh track for the trio’s shenanigans. These guys should probably stick to basketball — and the Running Man Challenge.
Maryland and Xavier are scheduled to tip-off at 6:50 p.m. on Thursday. The winner advances to play the winner of Thursday’s first-round game between Florida Gulf Coast and Florida State on Saturday.
