On second thought, maybe we don’t want Dallas, at least not at home.

The Wizards’ embarrassing loss to the NBA-worst Mavericks at Capital One Arena on Tuesday extended one of the stranger streaks in Washington sports, one that’s even crazier than the Redskins’ recent (regular season) dominance of the Seahawks in Seattle. Self-described frustrated D.C. sports fan Jeff Kravitz notes that the Wizards, Capitals and Redskins have now combined to lose 15 straight home games to Dallas teams since 2013, which was unbeknown to me until this morning. That’s nutty.

The Mystics defeated the Dallas Wings at Capital One Arena in September and D.C. United routed FC Dallas in April 2014 at RFK Stadium, but the last time the Wizards, Capitals or Redskins defeated the Mavericks, Stars or Cowboys was Dec. 30, 2012, when Robert Griffin III helped the Redskins clinch their first NFC East title in 13 years with a 28-18 win. Since then, the Wizards are 0-6, the Redskins are 0-5 and the Capitals are 0-4 against teams from Big D at home. (The Nationals took two of three from the Texas Rangers in 2014 but have since lost four straight at Nationals Park to Dallas’s closest MLB team.)

The streak began when the Wizards rang in 2013 with a loss to the Mavericks on New Year’s Day that dropped them to 4-25. Washington’s starters for that game: Bradley Beal, Martell Webster, Emeka Okafor, Nene and Garrett Temple. The Capitals, who haven’t beaten the Stars at home since 2006, had their franchise-record 15-game home winning streak snapped by the Stars in March. The Redskins have fared better on the road than at home against their rivals over the last five years, with two wins in their last four trips to AT&T Stadium. The Capitals and Wizards are both 1-3 at Dallas during the streak.

Barring an improbable Redskins-Cowboys playoff game at FedEx Field in January, the next chance to end the skid will come March 20, when the Capitals host the Stars. (Update: The Capitals beat the Stars, 4-3. Dallas’s streak of dominance in D.C. is done.)
