After the game, Oubre, who finished with 14 points and five rebounds in the Game 2 loss, confirmed that he heard Drake’s dis … and he wasn’t properly annoyed with the trash talk from one of the world’s most notorious front-running fans.
“That’s my guy, though,” Oubre told ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk. “I see him in the summertime all the time. … We pretty much run the streets of L.A. together.”
Oubre went on to call Drake “a great rapper” and said he listens to his music. Sometime after the game, Oubre also apparently deleted a seven-year-old tweet in which he claimed Drake had no swag, perhaps in an effort to squash the idea that there’s any real animosity between the two of them. (So long as Oubre doesn’t move Drake’s hat or deny him the last few sips of a bottle of a water, they should remain on good terms.)
“I have no beef with him,” Oubre said. “I just think it’s pretty cool that my name is mentioned in the same conversation as his. … It’s all fun and games. He’s a fan. He’s coming to support his team, and I’m just coming to play. At the end of the day, it’s all love.”
Oubre said he was engaging in friendly trash talk with Drake throughout the game. The rapper also had some words for Wizards point guard John Wall, his good friend from Wall’s one season at Kentucky. Drake and Wall also exchanged barbs in the comments of Wall’s Instagram post before Game 1.
“John, you’re getting bodied by 20 tonight,” Drake said Tuesday night, during a first-quarter stoppage in play.
