According to Metro's latest numbers, 89 percent of rail trips taken last month ended "on-time" — within a few minutes of their scheduled conclusion. That's significantly higher than Metro's stated goal of 75 percent.

Many roads remain flooded or are blocked due to debris and downed power lines.

A team of volunteers from American Airlines stayed through the weekend to help stranded travelers and are helping the airline as it prepares to resume service this week.

As Irma moves on and the rain wanes, Florida transportation officials have a warning for residents and visitors: Stay off the roadways.

Air traffic in Florida remains grounded as Irma makes it way to Atlanta, home to world's busiest airport. Some service is expected to resume Tuesday.
