9:09 A.M. Update: The lanes have reopened on I-395 North. Expect residual delays.
Original Post: A crash on I-395 North near Washington Boulevard is blocking the center lanes. Expect major problems for traffic heading toward the 14th Street Bridge.
9:08 A.M. Update: The accident has been cleared and the outer loop lanes reopened.
Original Post: An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at the I-95 split near College Park is blocking one of the outer loop lanes and one of the shoulders.
9:14 A.M. Update: This crash has been cleared and all lanes are open, according to police.
Original Post: An accident has also been reported at Nebraska Avenue and Macomb Street NW. Watch for delays on Nebraska Avenue.
9:22 A.M. Update: This accident has also been cleared, police report.
Original Post: An accident has been reported at Wisconsin and Cathedral avenues NW. We don’t know the direction yet, nor anything about any lane closures, but you should expect this to create delays on Wisconsin Avenue.
8:32 A.M. Update: The lanes have been reopened on Bladensburg Road NE, D.C. police report.
Original Post: An accident involving a D.C. school bus at Bladensburg Road and S Street in Northeast Washington is blocking two northbound lanes on Bladnesburg Road. There are no injuries to any children, but the bus is inoperable, according to D.C. police.
Stay to the left and expect delays if you’re traveling on Bladensburg Road.
8:27 A.M. Update: All lanes have reopened on the inner loop of the Beltway at Pennsylvania Avenue/MD 4. Expect lingering delays on the inner loop due to congestion and on the outer loop due to earlier rubbernecking.
8:07 A.M. Update: The accident is blocking two inner loop lanes and one of the shoulders.
Original Post: There’s a crash on the inner loop of the Beltway at the Pennsylvania Avenue/MD 4 exit. No lane closures have been reported yet, but we will update if anything is blocked.
7:57 A.M. Update: The disabled vehicle has been cleared and the I-66 East lane reopened.
Original Post: A disabled vehicle on I-66 East is blocking the right lane at the Beltway. Expect major delays approaching this spot, given the usual congestion drivers encounter even when there are no lane closures.
7:59 A.M. Update: All lanes have reopened on the outer loop of the Beltway at I-270. Watch for residual delays.
7:51 A.M. Update: The lane closures on the outer loop of the Beltway at I-270 right now stem from an accident, not from the mattress spotted on the Beltway earlier this morning. A crash involving multiple vehicles is blocking the off-ramp to I-270, one of the outer loop lanes and the left merge lane.
There was a mattress on the Beltway near I-370, but it was removed a short time ago, according to the Maryland State Police.
Original Post: The ramp from the outer loop of the Beltway to I-270 is blocked right now. The Maryland State Police report that they received calls about a mattress on the roadway, and you can bet we’re looking into that.
Expect delays on the outer loop near I-270. The ramp and one outer loop lane are blocked right now.
The crash on the Fairfax County Parkway near Hooes Road in Springfield is now just on the right shoulder. The right lane has reopened.
An accident at Gallows Road and Providence Forest Drive is blocking the eastbound center lane. This is right near where the Beltway and I-66 cross.
The debris on the outer loop of the Beltway at I-370 is blocking the outer loop left merge lane and one of the shoulders. Expect delays approaching this exit.
A crash on the Fairfax County Parkway near Hooes Road in Springfield is blocking the southbound right lane and right shoulder.
Debris on the outer loop of the Beltway at the exit for I-370 could create headaches there. No lane closures have been reported yet, but watch for issues.
MARC Brunswick Line train 892 is running 12 minutes late approaching Gaithersburg.
An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway near the Springfield Interchange is blocking one of the shoulders on the inner loop and one of the shoulders on the outer loop. Expect delays there.
Southbound W. Ox Road has partially reopened at Monument Drive in Chantilly. An accident was blocking the southbound lanes earlier this morning, but now only the right lane and right shoulder are blocked. Stay to the left and expect delays.
If you haven’t left yet and are heading this way, you’re still better off heading to the Fairfax County Parkway and avoiding any crowding stemming from the lane closure.
The accident on I-95 North near Dale Boulevard is now just blocking the left shoulder. The left lane has reopened.
The disabled vehicle on I-95 North before the Springfield Interchange has been cleared from the shoulder.
7:16 A.M. Update: The disabled vehicle has been cleared.
Original Post: A disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway at University Boulevard could create delays there. No lane closures have been reported yet.
A new pair of problems could add to delays on I-95 North:
- An accident on I-95 North near Dale Boulevard is blocking the left lane and left shoulder.
- A disabled vehicle on I-95 North before the Springfield Interchange is blocking the right shoulder.
Meanwhile, the earlier disabled vehicle on I-95 South in Lorton has been cleared from the right shoulder.
MARC Camden Line train 845 will board riders on the opposite track at Laurel and Muirkirk.
We’re not trying to jinx things, but: There are no reported delays right now for Metro, MARC or VRE trains.
The crash on I-95 North in Woodbridge has been cleared from the shoulder, but problems remain for northbound traffic on I-95. The roadway is heavily congested between Dale City and Woodbridge and again between Lorton and the Springfield Interchange. Expect heavy delays if you’re heading that way.
Two issues could slow traffic on I-95 in Northern Virginia:
- A disabled vehicle on I-95 South in Lorton is blocking the right shoulder.
- An accident on I-95 North in Woodbridge is blocking the right shoulder.
7:10 A.M. Update: The lane and shoulder have reopened on I-95 South.
Original Post: An accident on I-95 South after S. Caton Avenue in Baltimore is blocking the right deceleration lane and the right shoulder.
A crash is blocking southbound W. Ox Road at Monument Drive in Chantilly. This is the stretch between Lee Jackson Highway and I-66. Use the Fairfax County Parkway as an alternate route.
