Metro officials said there were some minor delays on the Orange Line headed to Vienna Sunday night after police received reports of a man with a knife.

Around 6 p.m., there were reports of a man with a knife at East Falls Church. Dan Stessel, a Metro spokesman, said the train was held and “canvassed” but said “nothing was found.”

This comes as Metro is expected to put out its annual performance statistics, including on crime.

According to the report, robberies and aggravated assaults were down 19 percent and 16 percent, respectively, for the year 2012. There were two homicides in the rail system. In November, an 18-year-old from Montgomery County was fatally stabbed in the Woodley Park Metro station on the Red Line, and in June a man was shot and killed at the Southern Avenue station on the Green Line.

There was an 88 percent uptick in snatches and pickpockets on board Metro’s buses and a homicide aboard a bus.
