A man trying to stop a fight between two women on a Metro train early Thursday afternoon was cut on the hand, according to the transit agency.

The man “attempted to stop an altercation” on the train when one of the two women involved cut him on the hand, Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said.

The man was being treated at the Federal Center station for the “non-life-threatening” injury, Stessel said.

Transit police officers are on the scene. They are looking for the suspect, along with D.C. and Capitol police, Stessel said. It’s unknown if the suspect left the station aboard a train.

No trains are being held at this time, Stessel said. But Orange and Blue Line riders could encounter some delays in both directions.
