Metro announced Friday that Metro Transit Police had arrested a D.C. man who is charged with misdemeanor sexual abuse following two incidents reported this year.

Michael L.  Williams, 19, was arrested Thursday and charged Friday, according to Metro.

A man allegedly approached a woman at the L’Enfant Plaza station Jan. 29 and grabbed her from behind. The woman, who was on the level serviced by Orange and Blue Line trains, got away and boarded a train.

The woman also alleged that the same man approached and groped her again Feb. 2. She told police that he came through the emergency doors on an Orange Line train bound for Vienna about 9:45 a.m. and touched her inappropriately.

A bystander used the intercom to contact the train operator. The man allegedly got off the train at the next station and left the area.

Williams was arrested Thursday by two Metro Transit Police patrol officers. He has been charged with the L’Enfant Plaza incident on Jan. 29 but not for the Feb. 2 incident aboard the Orange Line train. Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said that additional charges are expected.
