A popular app to track Metro buses has been relaunched by its developers after it died in December.

NextBus DC suddenly stopped working in December because of a contract dispute involving the creator of the technology behind the app and the company that now controls that technology, NextBus Inc. of Emeryville, Calif.

The outage led 7,000 D.C. area commuters to e-mail the app maker with complaints.

The NextBus DC app is now called iCommute DC and offers updates on Metro bus and train arrival times.

Developers of apps for Metro’s trains and buses have said the agency didn’t allow them to get enough information at once at rush hour times, when commuters needed it most. In other cases, app developers had said Metro did not consistently provide up-to-date data.
