One driver was killed and a second was injured in a crash that closed the inner loop of the Capital Beltway in College Park for several hours early Monday morning, authorities said.

Two vehicles were involved in the deadly pre-dawn collision, which resulted in the closure of all lanes of the inner loop between Interstate 95 and New Hampshire Avenue (Exit 28) for about three hours, police said.

The crash was cleared and the lanes reopened around 6 a.m.

No additional information was available about the cause of the accident or the extent of the second driver’s injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
