Metrorail announced that trains will run an extra hour for two upcoming football games at FedEx Field under a standard agreement in which the team picks up the extra cost.

The Blue Line’s Morgan Boulevard station, closest to the stadium, will be open late for Monday night’s 8:40 p.m. game with the San Francisco 49ers, and then again Sunday, Dec. 1, for the 8:30 p.m. game with the New York Giants. Metrorail’s normal closing time on Sunday and Monday nights is midnight.

Fans leaving FedEx and walking the nine-tenths of a mile south along a sidewalk to Morgan Boulevard station can catch a train toward Franconia-Springfield as late as 12:25 a.m. The last train toward Largo Town Center, one stop away, will be at 1:33 a.m.

This is a deal for the football fans only. They can exit at any station in the system, but the entrances at those other stations will close to incoming passengers at their usual times.

Riders leaving the games will be able to transfer to the Orange Line at Stadium-Armory, to the Green or Yellow lines at L’Enfant Plaza and to the Red Line at Metro Center.
