Metro now says that normal service has resumed on the Red, Orange and Blue lines.

Metro put out alerts Thursday morning saying the transit agency was having troubles on three of its five rail lines.

Passengers had to get off a Red Line train bound for Shady Grove at the Friendship Heights station because of an equipment problem shortly after 7 a.m. On the Orange Line, passengers  on a train headed to Vienna had to disembark because of a door problem. Both lines could experience residual delays, officials said.

And on both the Orange and Blue lines, riders will likely see some delays to Vienna and Franconia, due to an earlier train malfunction outside of the Potomac Avenue station.

It was unclear how long the delays were expected to last.

Thursday’s delays come after Red Line riders had rough commutes on two days last week, prompting an apology from General Manager Richard Sarles.
