It’s difficult to find a traffic issue to warn about during Christmas week. The post-holiday rush hour was practically non-existent. But events in Annapolis on Friday should get the attention of many travelers.

The annual Military Bowl football game, played previously at RFK Stadium in D.C., has shifted this year to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. The Maryland Terrapins will play the Marshall Thundering Herd at 2:30 p.m., but the game will be preceded by an 11 a.m. parade starting at City Dock, then heading up Main Street to Church Circle and College Avenue before turning left on Bladen Street and continuing along Rowe Boulevard to a left on Taylor Avenue, in front of the stadium.

That should make midday traffic pretty messy.

The streets on the parade route will be closed from about 11 to 11:45 a.m., reopening gradually as the parade passes by. Parking at City Dock and on Main Street will be banned from 7:30 a.m. to noon Friday.

People heading for the game can start parking at the stadium at 10 a.m. Friday. Other sites include the Noah Hillman Garage at 150 Gorman St., Gotts Court Garage at 25 Northwest St., Knighton Garage  at 1A Colonial Ave., Park Place at 5 Park Pl. and Germantown Elementary School at 200 Windell Ave.

The city’s Circulator trolley makes a loop through downtown Annapolis, with stops at the four garages listed above, but it won’t run along the parade route from 11 a.m. to noon Friday. An extended Circulator route will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday for the game. It will pick up passengers at Park Place, travel along Taylor Avenue and end up at the stadium. All the Circulator routes will be free on game day and will operate every 10 minutes. See more details on the Annapolis Circulator Web site.

In addition, the Annapolis Bus Co. plans to have a free shuttle available at the Truman Park and Ride  on Truman Parkway off Riva Road. It will operate from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Capital Weather Gang says Friday’s temperatures are likely to be in the low- to mid-40s, with sunny skies.
