Kittens. Firefighters. Police officers. The cast of “Downton Abbey.”
There’s a calendar for all of those groups.
And now, thanks to some budding entrepreneurs in New York, there is a calendar for the men in yellow — Yellow Cabs that is.
Mark Byrnes, an associate editor at The Atlantic Cities reports that the New York Taxi Drivers 2014 Beefcake Calendar is the brainchild of Phil Kirkman with photography by Shannon McLaughlin. It’s a charitable effort with 100 percent of the proceeds going to University Settlement, a nonprofit that helps immigrants, low-wage workers and families in New York.
The charity The New York Taxi Workers Alliance notes that 90 percent of the city’s cabdrivers are immigrants.
The calendars sell for $11.99. Kirkman said they’ve sold 4,500 to date.
A different cabbie is featured each month. The poses are . . . playful to say the least.
