Fatal crash snarling northbound I-95 in Virginia

1:55 P.M. Update:

I-95 North has fully reopened, but delays remain approaching Triangle (mile marker 150).

12:50 P.M. Update:

Two lanes have reopened on I-95 North. The left lane and left shoulder remain blocked and there are still heavy delays approaching this spot.

12:15 P.M. Update:

The northbound lanes remain blocked, creating considerable delays on I-95 North. Avoid this area if you can help it.


A fatal accident involving a tractor trailer has closed northbound Interstate 95 in Triangle.

The Virginia State Police were called to the scene at 9:48 a.m. They confirm that two people were killed in the accident, which involved a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle.

Due to the crash, northbound I-95 is closed and traffic is being redirected to U.S. 1 at the Joplin Road exit. Expect significant delays if you’re heading this way.
