Police closed the southbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway early Friday because of a multiple car accident near Route 202 in Landover.

There was no immediate information on the condition of those involved or how the accident happened, but initial investigation showed it was likely weather-related, as roads in the area are slick from snow and ice.

Police said they did not immediately know how long the road would be shut down.

On the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway near Interstate 295, there was also an earlier accident involving a tractor trailer that jack-knifed in the roadway.
