Good news for folks headed to the Emerald City.
Alaska Airlines announced Friday it is starting non-stop service between Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to Seattle beginning in September. It marks the airline’s debut at BWI.
“The addition of Alaska Airlines further demonstrates the strength of BWI Marshall Airport and the State of Maryland,” said Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, in a written statement that accompanied Friday’s announcement.
Alaska Airlines will fly one daily roundtrip between BWI and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport using its Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
“We are thrilled that Alaska Airlines is joining our team at BWI Marshall,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, chief executive officer of BWI Marshall Airport. “Alaska Airlines is widely recognized as a friendly, innovative, customer-focused airline. Their approach is a good match for the convenience and customer service that we offer at BWI Marshall.”
