Authorities said drivers should avoid the intersection of Middlebrook Road and Great Seneca Highway Friday morning because of an earlier crash.

Just after 2 a.m., police received a call from a passerby who told them a vehicle was on its side at the intersection. When officers arrived, they found a Jeep SUV on an embankment and two men were trapped inside. Montgomery County Fire Rescue got the men out of the vehicle.

The driver is in serious condition at an area trauma center and the passenger of the SUV was treated and released from an area hospital.

Police said the intersection will be closed throughout the Friday morning rush hour.
