UPDATE: Normal Metrorail service has resumed at the Prince George’s Plaza station after smoke coming out of a tunnel dissipated and firefighters could not determine where it had originated. Mark Brady, a fire department spokesman in Prince George’s County, said Metro maintenance workers would continue to investigate. In the meantime, he said, the station, in Hyattsville, was declared safe and service resumed there on the Green and Yellow lines.

Prince George’s County firefighters are at the Prince George’s Plaza Metro station in Hyattsville, where smoke is coming out of the train tunnel, fire department spokesman Mark Brady said.

Brady said firefighters were waiting for Metro to cut electrical power on the tracks and halt trains before they enter the tunnel to find the origin of the smoke. The station is on the Green Line and also is used by Yellow Line trains during rush-plus service.

Metro says riders should expect delays in both directions.
