We’ve heard the T-shirt rumors (black with silver letters), the water bottle rumors, but so far all we’ve got to show you in terms of giveaways to promote the Silver Line is this tiny bottle of hand sanitizer (useful certainly when you consider how many folks touch those poles and sit in those seats) and a Metro map-themed cloth for cleaning your glasses or smartphones (see below).

But with news of the rail line’s opening next month, Metro officials say we may see more of these items being distributed at stations in and around the region as the transportation agency kicks into heavy duty promotion mode. A special celebration also is planned for opening day July 26. Remember the Silver Line will have five stops — four in Tysons and one in Reston at Wiehle Avenue.

Suggestions for other Silver Line-themed free giveaway items? Maybe mini fans for those hot cars? Post your thoughts below.
