Crash slows traffic on Beltway’s Inner Loop

Updated at 4:30 p.m.

One person was injured and many drivers were stuck in miles of traffic after a crash on the Inner Loop of the Beltway.

A Maryland State Police dispatcher said that the crash in Montgomery County had been cleared by 4:30 p.m. He said that traffic was still moving slowly as a result of the accident, which happened more than two hours earlier.

The dispatcher said that one person was arrested for driving under the influence, and one victim was hospitalized. He did not know the name of the arrested driver, the condition of the victim or the circumstances of the crash.

Drivers reported long delays during the afternoon.

A WUSA9 reporter tweeted a photo of the accident which showed an overturned car.
