Service is restored on Metro’s Blue Line to Largo.

Dan Stessel, a Metro spokesman, said trains on the line will be single-tracking while crews make repairs to a cracked third rail.

Trains are single-tracking between the Arlington Cemetery and Foggy Bottom stations.

Repairs to the Blue Line’s third rail could take two to three hours, Stessel said. He said cracks on the third rail, which electrifies trains, aren’t common.

Delays continue on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines because of the track problem.

Metro service is suspended on the Blue Line in the direction of Largo Town Center because of a suspected third-rail issue in Virginia that has caused trains to become disabled in Washington, a Metro spokesman said.

Four Blue Line trains became disabled Friday morning, resulting in delays that grew to include Orange and Silver line trains, according to a Metro statement.

Metro said Blue Line riders from Virginia should take Yellow Line trains and transfer at the L’Enfant Plaza station. Blue Line service from Largo in the direction of the Franconia-Springfield station continues to operate.

Track inspectors are walking the Blue Line to locate the problem, Metro said.

Delays are 30 minutes or more for some trains on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines.

It’s Friday morning Metro riders. Expect delays on Metro’s Orange, Silver and Blue lines.

All three lines are single-tracking because of track problems, and delays are in both directions.

Metro said there is single-tracking on the lines between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory stations because of a track problem at Stadium-Armory station. There is also single-tracking on the lines between Foggy Bottom and McPherson stations because of a track problem at Farragut West.
