The Chesapeake Bay Bridge has reopened following a multiple vehicle accident about 11 a.m. Saturday in which three people were injured, said Maryland Transit Authority officials.

Three people were taken to hospitals, including a 45-year-old woman who was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The westbound span was closed for more than two hours and one eastbound lane was closed for a time to allow access for emergency vehicles.

Authorities said motorists should expect continued delays in both directions.
