The triple-header of soccer matches at RFK Stadium will add to the usual Wednesday afternoon rush hour traffic on the east side of the District.

The first of the three games that are part of the Central America Cup series is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. when Costa Rica plays Nicaragua. The second match, between Honduras and Belize, is set for 7:30 p.m. and the final game, El Salvador vs. Guatemala, begins at 9:30 p.m.

This is likely to put extra traffic on commuter routes that include East Capitol Street, Independence and Pennsylvania avenues, the Southeast-Southwest Freeway and the Anacostia Freeway. The old extension of the Southeast Freeway that used to lead drivers to Barney Circle and to RFK’s Lot 8 remains closed for reconstruction into a boulevard. So an eastbound freeway driver will need to cross the 11th Street Bridge, get onto the D.C. 295 freeway and exit at Pennsylvania Avenue to cross the Sousa Bridge and reach the stadium access road. See more about parking at RFK.

Metrorail, which normally closes at midnight, will provide an extra hour of service for soccer fans using the Stadium-Armory station near RFK. Stadium-Armory is a stop on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines. Fans who are trying to reach the Yellow and Green lines can take any train from Stadium-Armory to L’Enfant Plaza and transfer. To reach the Red Line from Stadium-Armory, take a train to Metro Center and transfer.

Stadium-Armory is the only station that will be open late for boarding passengers, but the riders who board there will be able to exit at any station in the system during the extra service.

Metro provides this list of Wednesday night’s final trains from Stadium-Armory:

  • 12:26 a.m. for the last Silver Line to Wiehle-Reston East
  • 12:39 a.m. for the last Blue Line to Franconia-Springfield
  • 12:50 a.m. for the last Orange Line to Vienna
  • 12:50 a.m. for the last Blue Line to Largo Town Center
  • 12:50 a.m. for the last Orange Line to New Carrollton
